Nobody is buying the Chevy Volt.
Orders for that car have been in the hundreds, monthly. That's it. Some greedy dealers actually marked up the car an additional 5 grand- hoping for the enthusiasm generated by the media. Tack on the customary 6-8 percent sales tax and the car's price is north of 50k.
Nobody is falling for that shit. Government Motors (GM stock) priced at 33 bucks a share a few months ago- isn't worth 20. A great short. The Volt, would be a marginal car at 25k, at 45k- it is simply a non starter. Get a load of this guy...he looks happy. http://gm-volt.com/2010/12/28/why-i-chose-to-buy-not-lease-the-chevy-volt/
This guy thinks his low serial number (008) will make this car worth huge money some day. He might even have a 1975 Chevy Monza in his garage as well.
The Volt is an incredibly overpriced POS. GM has lied about it's effective electrical range. It is having problems with heating in cool climates and I can't wait to see how it performs in blistering heat. It is beautiful to note that after President Obama appointed GE CEO Jeffrey Immelt as the new Business Czar- that now suddenly GE has agreed to buy GM Volts. Because nobody else will.
Go buy a Hyundai Sonata. You'll get more legroom, twice the horsepower, better gas mileage, a 100000 mile warranty, and you'll save twenty five thousand dollars in the process, lower sales tax. Even at 3.50 a gallon, 25k buys a lot of gas.

I'm pretty sure that you could buy a first class golf cart fo a fraction of the money and probably would have better range. America has turned into a bad joke. I'm not happy about that.
I want to see someone try to crank one up in International Falls, in January.
Ok, today in Toronto -15c , -28 with the wind chill.. Humm 45 km range after 2 hours of stop and go traffic, not bad, especially with instant on and did I mention instant electric heat? Watching the other cars around me burn thru a third of a tank of gas just trying to keep warm... Priceless!
Almost as fun as reading the EV haters on this forum... how can you not love American tech?
Well now, how do you like that price. My elantra, faster, gets better over all mpg, heated seats, more room, 100k warranty, and 25k cheaper.
How can you not love s korean technology?

You do know that Korean car companies were (are likely still are) massively state subsidized by the Korean government right? So your point is that a massively subsidized car company building cars using technology and processes cribbed from other more successful car companies is better than the largest auto company on the planet who just built a car at the absolute forefront of EV tech? Uh... okay. BTW - Good thing you got that 100k warranty. You'll be getting good use out of it.
Lmao. Reading this old comment and noting that two year old Volts have lost 2/3rds of their value. My Elantra? 50k miles, no problems, still worth 80% of the purchase price.
